I’ve been promising pictures of the kitchen since we repainted it, all of two months ago I think. I know, I’m horrible…but you love me because you know in the end I’ll come through for you. And today is that day! While I am cleaning my house getting ready for the weekend why don’t you have a peek around and let me know what you think.
Just in case you don’t remember here are the before shots, with all the white…lots and lots of white.
It’s amazing what a little bit of rearranging and adding color to the walls can do. Later, much later, we are going to update the laminate background to a stone back splash, get new counter tops and add hardware to the doors but for now I can love my kitchen just the way it is.
Doesn’t it just look amazing! I love the blue and the white.
Isn’t just gorgeous?
Of course what Louisiana kitchen is complete without the favorite state saying. It means “Let the Good Times Roll”
My newly decorated corner cabinet. I added all the family pictures to the bottom shelf. I’ve always loved the idea of a picture shelf, they just make me smile. Mike also bought me that nifty little chalk menu board on the left.
And then there are all of the little touches that make me smile. Like the fleur de lis cast iron key holder placed underneath the crocheted name plaque my step- grandmother in law made for us as a house warming gift.
The wooden plaque was given to my grandparents by my mom and uncle and is now proudly displayed above family pictures taken a few years ago.
Another favorite wall decor of mine are the cast iron corn bread loaf pans. We have had these in the family for ages. They go perfectly over my bread basket and utensil crock I updated recently.
On the other side of the kitchen, were all the work gets done I left my baking stations the same but rearranged below were I hold my dishes. I got rid of those horrible looking fruit wall hangings you can see in the first picture up above. I also moved my spice rack and mason jars with my cutlery in them around.
Finally my favorite place in the kitchen, my herb window sill. Mike and Hayley purchased these gorgeous flowers for me as an early Mothers Day gift and my mom gifted me the white ceramic bowls which hold my k-cups. I love staring out this window and watching the humming birds and the flowers there just bring a nice bit of life into the kitchen.
I can’t believe how transformed it looks with just a coat of paint. As I said earlier there a few things left to do but most of it’s cosmetic and can wait. For now I’m more than happy to spend most of my days working away in my new heaven.
